Bacon, Pineapple, & Cheese on a Bun

BLOG Bacon, Pineapple, & Cheese on a Bun

Bill’s favorite sandwich to make and to eat. We love this for a quick lunch or supper and it is great to take camping! We are not sure where the recipe originated,

INGREDIENTS:
Bacon (One of our favorites is Jimmy Dean’s, but whatever you like. You need two slices per sandwich. Cut these in half; you will lay them in an “X” across the bun.

Pineapple Slices in 100% juice. (We Use DelMonte brand in a can.

Cheese (We like Amercan or Cheddar But use your favorite

Buns one or two per person. Our favorite bun is Rotella’s. It is corn syrup free if you are allergic.

DIRECTIONS:
1. *Turn on your oven broiler. . Get out your broiler pan or cookie sheet.

2. Toast the bun under the broiler in the oven and lightly butter it. My husband has started using the toaster for this step as it is easier for him.

3 Fry, microwave, or bake your bacon. Bill prefers microwaving the bacon. Drain on paper towels and cut each strip in half when it’s cooled off enough to handle.

4. Open your can of sliced pineapple and drain the juice. Bill usually ends up drinking the juice later. Drain the slices on paper towel. Place the pineapple on the bottom half of the bun.

5.. Next add the two slices of cut in half bacon to the pineapple. You can lay it in an “X” or lay slices side by side. Top with cheese slice.

6. Broil the bottom half of the sandwhich until the cheese melts. CAUTION!!! Keep a close watch on the bun it will melt the cheese quickly and can easily burn if you don’t watch closely!
7 .Spread the top bun with mayonnaise.Add you favorite mayonnaise. Bill likes Miracle Whip and I like Hellman’s because of my allergy. Miracle Whip has Corn Syrup.

Enjoy!
